Training for altar servers is held in the spring and fall each year with dates announced in the bulletin. Potential servers must have made their first communion. Deacon John Pitt is the spiritual advisor.

Baptisms will ordinarily take place every Sunday at 1:30 p.m. in the parish church in Barnegat. Baptism is reserved for the children of registered parishioners. Participation in a Baptismal Preparation Session is required for both parents. Godparents are to be Catholics in good standing. If the Godparents are not registered members of St. Mary’s Parish, they will need a sponsorship letter from the parish at which they are registered.

St. Mary’s Eucharistic Ministers of the Eucharist serve at Masses, nursing homes, Southern Ocean County Hospital, and also bring Communion to our homebound parishioners. Anyone who is a Catholic in good standing is invited to learn more about becoming an Extraordinary Minister of the Eucharist.

This Ministry is responsible for decorating the churches for the liturgical seasons. They plan and implement the design as well as purchase the necessary plants. Help is always needed.

Praise Band (Ages 18 and Older) This group plays every Sunday at the 9:00 a.m. Mass at St. Mary of the Pines. Rehearsals are held every Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Pines. New members are always welcome.
Adult Choir (Ages 18 and Older) The Adult Choir sings every Sunday at the 11:30 a.m. Mass at St. Mary of the Pines from October through May. Rehearsals are held every Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Mary of the Pines. New members are always welcome.
Special Activities: Each December, the Music Ministry hosts a Christmas Concert. See the bulletin for the specific date.

Readers review the readings prior to Mass to prepare themselves to share the Word of God. They also greet parishioners after Mass.

The sacristans undertake the overall preparation for all liturgical celebrations. Through a good understanding of the principal liturgical books and the liturgical calendar, they insure all aspects of the sacristy are orderly and prepared for liturgical celebrations. Joe is responsible for St Mary’s and Steve is responsible for St Mary of the Pines.
